Suigetsu unstrapped the zanbato from his back, greatly relieved to be able to set that weight aside, even if he wasn't as happy about Sasuke being late. Where was he? It wasn't like that guy, always acting like the freaking leader, to do things like that. Suigetsu was definitely going to comment about it whenever the Uchiha got here.
Until then, he really needed water and rest. Traveling that long with the sword on his back still took its toll on his body. He placed the zanbato carefully against the wall of the nearest building and flopped seated right beside it, without much fuss. That move, and he still managed to grab one of the water bottles he carried along his hip. He went through the opening procedure without paying any close attention to it, so used to each step that he didn't even require thinking to perform them.
So... this was Kirigakure no Sato now, huh? The Village Hidden in the Mist. It didn't look that changed, but Suigetsu had heard its people had gotten softer than what he knew them to be. He couldn't blame them. Stuff changed, and it really sucked when you had to reside in some water tank and serve as an experiment for an old guy with delusions of grandeur. Good riddance, though.
He looked around as he sipped a good line of water through the straw, resting his elbows on his knees and his back against the wall, making himself comfortable on the ground. He wasn't worried that someone might recognize him. There had been a while since he had last set foot in the village and lots of people died around Kiri in the process of getting stronger. Probably most of those he'd known were as long gone as Zabuza-sempai. Not that he cared too much.
"Dammit, he'd better have a good excuse," Suigetsu muttered between two sips.
He didn't like waiting that much, after all the time he'd already lost sitting in that water tank and doing nothing productive for himself. Maybe there would be something to do around here... without going deeper into the village. He needed the gates to remain in sight, so he'd be able to spot Sasuke when he came. And heck, those who could recognize him might be few, but the closer to the crowded areas he got, the more chances he'd have of running into one of them.
Suigetsu couldn't say he liked this.

The air here was rather pleasant to his lungs...
"Good excuse, eh?" Sasuke asked as he leaped to Suigetsu's side, with only the slightest small sound when his sandals met the floor.
He was smirking, but only a little, and his eyes reflected nothing that even began to look like good humor.
He had been on the roof for a few seconds, having just gotten there. Instead of revealing his presence right away, he had preferred to wait and see what Suigetsu was doing.
The answer came quicker than expected. Commenting, as usual. That wasn't surprising, the guy always had something to say.
Letting himself drop a little, Sasuke propped his own back against the same wall, but he was still standing, unlike the other figure. The sheathed chokuto he carried on his back gave a muffled noise when it hit the stone wall and was pressed into his frame. That hurt only an insignificant bit.
Sasuke turned his head, and looked down at Suigetsu, who was now on his side.
"I'm not late," he announced unceremoniously. "You were early."

A loud slurping noise emitted from the straw, marking the fact that the water in Suigetsu's container was finished. He placed that down with a calculated move, peacefully taking his time with that trivial thing. Only once he was done, and with one last glance the container's way, did he turn his head to fearlessly hold Sasuke's own gaze.
Suigetsu was smiling slightly, the way he usually did. Nothing ever seemed to ruin his good mood, or at least the semblance of it; even trouble only increased it some more. That was one thing he had heard mentioned about him in the past, several times. And under that cheerfulness hid a terrible murderer, the continuation to that usually came. He was able to hack and slash through things while never losing his smile.
He wasn't impressed because he had become aware of Sasuke's presence around the same time he was finishing his own muttered complaint. He hadn't actually been able to tell it was Sasuke, but he knew it would be someone. The fact that it was the Uchiha was less than half of enough to surprise Suigetsu. Besides, he really didn't like it when the kid acted like his boss, but he was ready to pretend not to notice. Or to protest again.
Hey, wait...
"What do you mean I was early?" Suigetsu asked hastily, blinking a little in confusion.
He tried to remember what they'd talked about the other day, while establishing this meeting. Of course, that stupid Karin was interfering, as usual, and protesting about why it should be just Sasuke and Suigetsu, and not all of them. There was a lot of noise, but Sasuke had already told Suigetsu the time of their meeting before that and he recalled it clearly.
What the heck?

"Hm," Sasuke finally let a reserved part of his amusement show through that small interjection.
He knew that Suigetsu thought he had everything figured out the right way. Of course, no one could remember something they hadn't really heard.
"You were too busy arguing with Karin when I told you to make it two hours later."
With that impassive explanation, Sasuke turned his head away from Suigetsu and the uncomfortable angle he had to face in order to look at his companion.
He examined the street they were on, just near the entrance to a small side alleyway from the main route winding into the mist village from outside. Suigetsu had been rather uninspired to choose such a messy and often traveled place to stay and wait in. But he hadn't had much of a choice in that.
Sasuke steered himself clear of the wall, and pondered on the two options. He turned to glance more attentively around the corner, where some trash was stored. People here were as stupid and careless as those in any village.
He decided that, despite the garbage, taking the small, darker and emptier alley instead of the one they had met on would be better. He was going to tell Suigetsu that when he asked. And the mouthy missing nin was certain to do just that soon.

Karin had been Following Sasuke, careful to keep her presence unknown. He and Suigetsu made a plan to meet, and she was NOT about to be left out, no matter what they wanted. She wanted to know what was going on.
Like Sasuke, she stayed on the roof for a few seconds, and had listened to their small conversation. She jumped off the roof, landing a couple of feet away from them with her back turned.
"I told you, I'm not going to be left out of this," she directed this to both of them, but she was glaring at Suigetsu. He could be so mouthy sometimes. But she punched him when he acted up to her, and that made her rage towards him cool.
She tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, and crossed her arms over her chest. Her eyes narrowed. Why were they always excluding her? It made her furious.
" What are you two talking about?" she asked angrily. If it was something important, she deserved to know.

Suigetsu pushed himself up from the ground, dusting the back of his pants with a lazy hand and stretching the other a little. He was aware that somebody else had just landed on the roof as he was busy clearing out the confusion with Sasuke. The person was probably going to show itself soon. He heard a move, there it should b... Karin! What the heck was she doing here?
Suigetsu listened to her yapping about how she was not going to be left out, and his question was answered. So she had just followed Sasuke because she didn't want to be out of the loop (or more likely because she wanted to be with Sasuke all the time). Well, whatever they were doing here, she was out of luck. Sasuke hadn't even told Suigetsu yet. But it figured that the stupid b*itch wasn't going to think about the side effects of that timely arrival she had made.
He just smiled blandly when she glared at him, and he walked closer to the two of them, pulling his zanbato with him. He strapped it to his back again while he moved. Man, the darn thing was heavy on his back, but it sure was useful. It had been the first thing Suigetsu wanted to go for upon being released from Orochimaru.
"We were just talking about how stupid you are," he remarked to Karin, always with that wickedly sweet smile on his lips.
He always thought that annoyed her more than the words themselves. Couldn't blame her, really, it was bad enough to be insulted, and even worse when it was done so cheerfully. Still, as much as he loved to tease the girl, they could be in serious trouble. She probably didn't even realize what she had done yet. He needed to bring their attention to that before it was too late... and preferably before Karin began to pummel him, like usual.
"You have to be, to leave Juugo alone," he continued to note out in clear words. "What if he freaks out again, huh?" He turned to the Uchiha. "Sasuke?"

Karin glared. Suigetsu's smile had always gotten on her nerves. " You bastard!" she snarled, before punching Suigetsu in the face. Why did he have to be such a jerk? And why couldn't he be sexier, like Sasuke?
She realized she HAD been stupid to leave Juugo alone. If he freaked out, all hell could, and probably would, break loose. " Since when am I his babysitter?" she growled. " You two could look after him once in a while, too," again, she directed this to Suigetsu.

Suigetsu received the punch square in his jaw, which tossed his head slightly to the side with a throbbing pain. It wasn't like this didn't usually happen, anyway. He knew Karin was going to hit before he teased her all the time, but he couldn't help it. Seeing that annoyance on her face and hearing her yell was sometimes really worth it. At least she didn't keep assaulting him this time.
"It's because you're useless as anything else," he continued to sling his insulting remarks, though the smile faded a little because it hurt to maintain.
He rubbed the spot that had received the blow, staring at Sasuke's back. Was the guy going to turn and pay them any kind of attention? Suigetsu hated that superior aura that engulfed the Uchiha, making him look so cool compared to the rest of them. The others seemed to be glad to follow his orders like that. Probably why he thought he could just go about and act like the leader.
"Hey, Sasuke," Suigetsu said again when the pain dispersed from his jaw. "We need to go back and see what Juugo's doing. Whatever we're doing here, we either get it done fast or leave it for later."
He didn't know why they were here at all. It had seemed to be a bit important when Sasuke mentioned it the other day, but not urgent enough that it shouldn't suffer a delay.
The Juugo problem was probably much more impending. If that guy had one of his fits and he was alone, without Suigetsu and Karin to hold him down and Sasuke to use his Sharingan to clear his mind, things could get real ugly, real quick. If he transformed into that... thing... he could kill some fifty people or more before he managed to cool down by himself. Then he'd run off and hide in a corner to be all crazy and rant on about how he wanted the killing to stop.

Karin.
Sasuke had to admit he hadn't realized she was following him. The most he could do was tell she was there at around the same time Suigetsu could. That ability of hers... to track people through chakra... it was really useful. It meant she could stay far enough back to not be detected and still know where he was.
Still, even if he thought that, his exterior betrayed nothing. He didn't even bother to turn and look at her or Suigetsu.
As the two bickered, like it was to be expected of them, Sasuke pondered. Suigetsu made sense about Juugo. Karin should never have left that dangerously unstable guy alone.
"We'll be quick," he replied, turning to face them.
Usually, when he interfered, the quarreling stopped. If it didn't, he disposed of quick and efficient ways to make it.
"We're here to gather data about the mist village's political situation," he explained coolly. "We should do some quick scouting and mark any important changes."
There wasn't any room to say no to that. Suigetsu might comment, as usual, but he'll do it. If they got done quick enough, Juugo wasn't going to cause any trouble anywhere.

Karin was about to punch Suigetsu again, except that Sasuke had finally spoken. She whipped around to face him, and put her fists down. " Suigetsu, you got lucky," she snarled.
So all they were doing was gathering information, hmm? This should be quick. All they needed was political data. Karin adjusted her glasses, then crossed her arms over her chest again.
Maybe she was a little stupid, leaving Juugo alone. But even if she had stayed, if he had another outrage, there was no way Karin could handle him by herself. She would've had to leave anyway, to find Sasuke and Suigetsu.

Suigetsu glared daggers at Karin when she wasn't looking at him anymore. That stupid b*tch. Dammit, her punching and kicking was always as hard as that stuff could get. Couldn't she reply with words, like normal people did? He really was lucky, that she hadn't slammed him into a wall like she usually did.
"Yeah, something had to compensate for you being here," he muttered in a highly begrudging fashion, still busy massaging the spot she had hit earlier.
Then, Suigetsu looked at Sasuke, who was finally bothering to come out of his high and mighty aura and look at them, poor regular mortals. He would have liked to snap at the guy, but the truth was the thought of having Juugo somewhere out there was far more disturbing than the acceptance of Sasuke's leadership. Fine, Juugo could kill. But let's call it a matter of principle: Suigetsu wanted a part of the action as well, if that happened.
He had noticed Sasuke check out the other alley earlier. Suigetsu had looked at it as well before the Uchiha arrived, and he had decided he really didn't like the way it smelled. Sasuke seemed to be less pretentious and he couldn't say that fact was much to his liking.
"You're gonna say we have to go that way, right?" he asked, pointing at the afore mentioned path with a most disrespectful scowl on his face.

Sasuke pondered actually using that jutsu to immobilize both of them, then going from there. Suigetsu was already familiar with it, from his incidents with Juugo, and Sasuke wouldn't really have a problem with showing Karin what it was like, as well.
He was feeling oddly irritable today.
Realizing that, he decided against consuming chakra with those two and just allowed them to keep acting up. Soon he noticed it had been the right choice. Though hell-bent on getting the last word, Suigetsu was multi-tasking pretty well between that and their current need to do something.
Sasuke knew Suigetsu was going to be the most cautious of them while in here, anyway. Even if he didn't look like it.
The guy was actually more reasonable than his stubbornly huge ego made him look.
"Secrecy is more important than comfort," he offered, wanting to get done with the conversation already and start moving.
From there, Sasuke's gaze left Suigetsu and moved on to Karin, with the same lack of expression.
