Usagi sat in the corner an empty room. There were many of those in her home. Her friend Miyako had asked her to go to the dojo, but Usagi had refused. Truth be told, she wasn't a great fighter. She had never gotten the proper training. She closed her eyes as the memories flooded back.
Usagi, three years old, watched her siblings head off to training. Her father caught her looking. " What are you thinking about,Usagi?" he asked his youngest child. " I'm just imagining how great it will be when I become a ninja," she said. Her father sighed. " Usagi, you know you won't be a ninja. I've told you a thousand times, you're going to be a shopkeeper, like your mother." Usagi scowled. " But I WANT to be a ninja. Why can't I?"
" Because I won't risk you getting hurt. Besides, you've said yourself you're afraid to fight."
" So was Chiyoko, until she got the proper training," Usagi retorted.
" Usagi, you're not going to be a ninja AND THAT'S FINAL," her father barked. He was usually so gentle towards her.
" You just don't want me to learn to fight!" Usagi yelled.
" I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANOTHER WORD ABOUT THIS USAGI, YOU'RE JUST A LITTLE KID WHO DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE'S TALKING ABOUT!" her father yelled, then walked away from her without saying another word.
Usagi sighed, then looked out the window. " Some day I'll need to fight for myself, but I won't know how because of you," she hissed to her fathers retreating back.
* End Flashback*
Usagi opened her eyes and gave another loud sigh. She missed her father, stubborn as he was. He was the whole reason she had to train herself. " Maybe if he had taught me to fight, I wouldn't have been stuck with that abusive man, and I wouldn't have such a soft spot," she thought, rubbing her head. " and maybe I wouldn't be so nervous to fight." she shifted her position. " Face it Usagi. Your just a coward and a weakling. No one else is to blame for that."
